Spend Your Fat – How To Lose Weight ? –
A person becomes round and heavy when the essential fat that is required for maintaining the basic physical and psychological health exceeds optimum. Fat in simple terms is energy, the energy that is mandatory to run your body. Can a car run without fuel? You know the answer. Derive an equation on similar lines. How does blood circulate automatically? What makes the heart pump? All these bodily mechanics are fueled by the fat present in your body. The body cannot operate without this energy source.
In order to lead a healthy life, you need a healthy body. To achieve this you must maintain an optimal fat to muscle ratio. If you are on this path already, you must rephrase one important question. Instead of asking ‘How can I lose weight ?’ ask ‘How can I spend my fat?’ The answer to the latter is a no-brainer and is very similar to the way we use our savings account each month. What needs to be saved and what needs to be spent? Ideally most of us spend about 40 to 50% of our monthly earnings and save the rest for a rainy day. This is precisely the action plan your body needs.
People like us, who make a living by sitting in front of a computer for 9 hours a day need anywhere between 2,000 to 2,200 kilocalories of energy to run the body. What happens when you overcharge a battery? Does it not swell up and leak? The same happens to your body if you were to supply it excess energy. Let’s say you feed your body 4,000 kilocalories of energy today. Approximately 2,000 kilocalories will be spent for the day’s requirement and the remaining 2,000 kilocalories will be converted to fat and stored in your body. If you continue to embark on this overcharging spree day after day, you will swell up like a battery. In undiplomatic words ‘blobby and flabby’.
If you are someone who is already on the heavier side, inching towards explosion, should you be supplying 2,000 kilocalories of energy each day? The answer is NO. You already have energy in excess to fuel your day. Adding 2,000 kilocalories by default will only help you maintain your present weight and that’s not going to help. You must revamp your lifestyle in such a way that an opportunity is created to spend the energy you have accumulated in excess.
The body by default demands 2,000 kilocalories each day and this is non-negotiable. What happens when a fat person supplies 1,200 kilocalories of energy, day after day in place of 2,000 kilocalories? There is a shortfall in the energy supplied by you. Well, this is where the spending comes into picture. The body borrows 800 kilocalories from the existing fat deposits and balances the daily requirement of 2,000. The more it borrows from the fat deposits on a daily basis, more fat will disappear.
You must realize that the human body is smarter than your mind could ever comprehend. Now this leads us to another tricky question. What happens if you were to supply 0 kilocalories for ten days by starving? This is what the body will do…for ten days it will borrow 2,000 kilocalories from the fat deposits but by the end of the tenth day it will sense something amiss and will switch itself to famine fighting mode. In this state the borrowing from the fat deposits will be fewer than the past ten days and eventually you will not see results. Hence starving is never the solution and you must never push yourself into this state as it will adversely affect your physical and mental well-being. Appreciate your body’s smartness and spend your fat wisely to live a long and happy life. More on it later…
