“Healthy food recipes using cheap and wholesome ingredients remain the soul of Hissing Cooker.”
The one that does not learn to cut corners is left with a circle for life. Many of us have been marinating in traditions that do us no good. This leads us to a question, who created these traditions? It must have been someone like us years ago. They created something which seemed appropriate for that day and age. There again births another question. What existed before the tradition that we observe? Something must have existed and someone that came along had the conviction to change in order to flow with the universe. The ability to adopt is what pushes certain life forms up the ladder.
We beings are born life ready. Our design includes a mind and a body to complete a journey. These two must co-exist in order to yield results. People like us, when we say us, we are referring to the two of us, the hissing cookers. We lost this balance somewhere and the result was an unhealthy flabby body and a mind that suffered perennially. The society as we knew it was never short of adjectives to describe us, should they not place us by name. If we were to be the topic of discussion, we were referred to as ‘that fat couple’, ‘that dark, fat man or woman’. We cared the least for what others had to say, however, over the years we felt a steady decline in the way our minds worked. We wanted to do something about our state of affairs but every measure came with a price tag that we could not afford, both in terms of time and money. We researched extensively, followed a few weight loss diet plans to success but we could not sustain the victory for too long. Ever slip took us back to the place where we started. The necessity to succeed made us take a different approach, the one that listens before nose diving into a problem to fix it. We started with the body and divorced the mind temporarily. This helped us understand the body completely and eventually brought it up to the mind’s speed. The mind by then was void of prescriptions that came with a tradition. The mind started supporting the body dutifully only to create a positive impact.
We are not chefs or nutritionists by education, training or profession. In a week, we spend nearly fifty hours earning our dough and the rest is invested in baking it. Over the years we have grown to know our food well and started making smart choices. We are self-taught cooks who love to cook everything from scratch. Hissing Cooker is our duet. Often people ask us a series of embarrassing questions “You two have lost a lot of weight. Do you eat at all? What did you do?” Well, this is us answering them. We were really large and flabby couple of years ago. Anyway when we were that, we wondered, how would it be to have a flat stomach? The one that would not spill out of the belted circumference and hinder the view of the square foot below. This was not the only problem; the double chin was mature enough to be another face. We surrounded ourselves with a lot of parentless questions. Ones such as, Can we hit a reset button and restore ourselves to factory settings? Where is our bloody catalogue? Were we born with one in the first place? One day we decided to go after the questions. Our research turned into a quest and our quest in-turn taught us a spell. That was the beginning of it all. We lost 102 kilograms between the two of us and loss is continual.
By the way, did we find our catalogue at last? No, we did not but we found something that is even more precious, ‘Common Sense’. Hissing Cooker is our documented reality. An avenue through which we share a part of our lifestyle, which is very important to us. Here you are guaranteed to find healthy food recipes made using wholesome ingredients, which we eat as a family.
We choose quality calories, judiciously measure our portions and cook our way to good health. We created our own tradition. Our bodies respond well and we are healthier than ever. Often the changes that we consider as least important are the ones that make or break our life. Everyone has it in themselves to establish their own way of life, a style which will eventually evolve into a tradition of their own.
If you are wondering where to start, listen to your body.
